Genesis 33 records the reconciliation between Jacob and Esau. Jacob approaches his brother in humility, bowing to the ground, yet Esau runs to meet him, embraces him, and weeps. What Jacob feared becomes peace.
In this episode, Johan Schep shows how this chapter points to Christ. Jacob’s humility reflects, in a limited way, the far greater humility of the Lord Jesus, who came down from heaven and was obedient even unto death. Esau’s embrace recalls the father in Luke 15.
The chapter also sets two confessions side by side. Esau says, “I have enough,” while Jacob says, “I have everything.” Genesis 33 directs us to the true fullness found only in Christ.
