In this special episode of Yeshua in the Tanakh, Johan Schep reflects on Pentecost, with lovely truths for your heart. He begins in paradise, because already there the Lord gives a picture of what was to come. Adam, the first man, is a picture of the second and last Adam, the Lord Jesus. And just as Eve was formed from the side of Adam, so the second Adam would one day receive His church as the reward for His obedience unto the cross.
On Pentecost this became visible. At the first Feast of Pentecost at Mount Sinai, the Jewish people received the law 50 days after Passover, and 3000 people died. On that same 50th day, centuries later, the Holy Spirit brought life to the hearts of 3000 Jewish people through faith. A striking contrast: the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Corinthians 3:6-7)
