In Genesis 30 we witness the dysfunctional family dynamics between Jacob, Leah, and Rachel. Rachel becomes jealous of Leah when she conceives and pressures Jacob. Jacob, in turn, becomes angry and reacts in the flesh toward Rachel.
Bible teacher and evangelist Johan Schep reminds us that the Bible is an honest book—showing both the good and the bad, and the lessons found in both. In this chapter, we see God’s faithfulness and grace, ultimately opening Rachel’s womb.
